Where do you spend your leisure time with your child/ren?
Where can you network with other parents?
Below, there are some associations and institutions which are active in nearly all federal states and which offer activities for children and families:
Kinderfreunde
The Kinderfreunde (children’s friends) are and organisation which offers child care and leisure activities for children across Austria. Many offers of the Kinderfreunde are organised and managed on a volunteer base.
Katholische Jungschar
The Catholic Youth Organisation is a children’s organisation of the Catholic Church. In groups led mostly by volunteer teenagers the children can network and try out social engagement.
The Evangelische Jugend (Protestant Youth) also offers activities for children and youths.
Scouts
The "Pfadfinder und Pfadfinderinnen Österreichs" are a democratic, politically independent children and youth movement promoting environmentalism and partnership.
The programme in regular group meetings of fixed groups consists of handicrafts, camping out, singing and music and experiencing nature, play and discovery.

Hiking
In and around Vienna, there are beautiful views or woodland meadows to be discovered while hiking. The paths lead to various points like the Viennese Woods, the Lainz Tiergarten or across vineyards. For families, there are forest playgrounds along the paths.
Public pools
There are more than 30 public pools in Vienna. The pools of the City of Vienna offer different leisure activities, depending on their facilities. Family pools aim at families with children. Shallow water offers child-friendly bathing opportunities in the children’s pools.
Sports associations
Sport associations in Vienna offer children the opportunity of trying out different sports and to spend their leisure time actively. Children can thus learn sports in groups, tutored by well-trained coaches.
Parent-Child-Centres
In Vienna there are eight parent-child-centres which you can contact about nearly all problems concerning pregnancy and living with child/ren. Experts from all areas can help you or at least know who you can contact with your problem.
In addition to that, parent-child-centres offer regular parent-child-meetings for all age groups (at least up to school age). This is a good possibility to make first contact especially for parents new to the city, and to exchange experiences with parents (some from different countries).
Parents forums
Of course today the internet also offers excellent possibilities of networking with like-minded people, and to form contacts and friendships.
